Cozy Homemaker Journal–November 2025 Reflections
🌿 Welcome, Friend!
“Home isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence.”
Hello there, friend — come on in for a cup of tea.
This is the first entry in my Cozy Homemaker Journal, a place where I’ll share a few glimpses from my month — the recipes bubbling away in my kitchen, the projects happening around our home, and the lessons that quietly unfold along the way.
It’s not about having everything done — it’s about noticing what’s good right where we are.

🧺 Budgeting Wins
This month’s biggest wins weren’t fancy — just old-fashioned thrift.
I worked through what was already in the freezer and pantry, and it felt so good to turn “use it up” into something cozy and satisfying. Between the baking, handmade gifts, and a few shed treasures repurposed for the girls’ projects, I hardly spent a dime — but somehow the house feels richer than ever. 🌿
(Simple living and frugal homemaking for the win. 💛)
🍳 In the Kitchen
This month turned into a full-on cooking/baking adventure!
I made snickerdoodles, turkey patties, meatballs, and a hearty Sausage Potato Pepper Bake. The house smelled absolutely wonderful — the kind of coziness where the oven hums, the counters fill, and the heart feels full. 🕯️
I also made up a recipe that turned out amazing, using ingredients I had on hand: Creamy Green Chile Chicken Noodle Soup. The recipe will be posted on the blog soon!

🌷 In the Garden and Creative Corner
I painted a $15 yard-sale furniture piece to repurpose as a kitchen island for my daughter’s home. A little paint and a lot of love turned that thrifty find into something special with a story behind it — proof that creativity and care can make anything beautiful again.
We hadn’t moved it to her home before Thanksgiving, and it became a wonderful place to line up our Thanksgiving appetizers!

On Thanksgiving Day while the turkey baked, everyone was glued to the football game, except my grandkids and me. The weather was beautiful, and we raked all the leaves from under Mabel the Maple Tree into a huge pile.
The grandkids had a blast racing across the yard and jumping into the pile. I used my little leaf blower to gently clear the leaves while leaving the decorative rock in place. I will be using those leaves to improve the soil in my garden beds – free mulch from nature!
🏡 Home & Family
I’ve realized how much clutter has crept into our home over time, so I’m developing a gentle, doable plan to clear the clutter in my office and shed — a small step toward peace in my spaces. 🌿
This month, I’ve also enjoyed helping my daughters plan and make Christmas gifts. They’re focusing on handmade and thrifted items, and I’ve been able to share a few of my old craft-fair tricks — and some supplies from that same shed!

While I cooked in the kitchen, my daughter sat at the dining-room table stamping flour-sack kitchen towels with cookie cutters and fabric paint. They’ll be tucked into gift baskets alongside the homemade vanilla we started back in February. It’s a tender little snapshot of creativity and tradition — generations working side by side, each adding her own touch of love to the season. 🎄💛
🌸 Reflections & Gratitude
I’ve realized that sometimes I make weekend to-do lists that are impossible to finish! That gentle awareness — that even good, exciting projects can wait — is such a meaningful shift. Sometimes the best homemaking is simply giving ourselves permission to rest and breathe. 💛
I’m also embracing progress over perfection, and learning that even small bits of work done steadily will eventually complete a project. Slow and steady homemaking really is the secret to a peaceful, productive life. ☕
And watching my daughter stamp those towels while I stirred dinner, I felt such peace — knowing that the spirit of handmade giving is alive and well in our family. The towels and vanilla are lovely, but the memory of that quiet moment together will be what I treasure most. 🌿

🎯 Goals for the Month Ahead
Finishing Projects.
I tend to start off with enthusiasm and then get distracted by something new, leaving the first project waiting in the wings. This season’s goal is to bring things to completion — one cozy project at a time — and enjoy that peaceful satisfaction of seeing the finished work of my own hands. 🌿
Health and Retirement.
This last bout of illness Grampy and I caught from our home daycare kids has been hard on us. We’re actively working on our long-term retirement plans so we can reduce germ exposure and enjoy more time doing what we love.
Christmas Decorating.
We took down our fall décor to prepare for Christmas decorating. I hope to peek into the special decorations we’ve collected over our almost 30 years of marriage. And, I have big plans for the sunroom!
(Hint: It involves cats!) 🐈⬛
💛 Until Next Time
Thank you for sitting down with me for this little chat, friend.
May your weeks ahead be peaceful, purposeful, and filled with the simple joys of home — a good cup of tea, something warm in the oven, and a project that makes you smile.
With love,
Michelle (The Budgeting Granny)
P.S. I’ve been working on something exciting… I created a brand-new Recipe Index called “Granny’s Cozy Kitchen,” with all my recipes in tidy categories, making it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for. I hope you enjoy browsing through it!
